For the past several years, I have been delving into the world of metaphysics and incorporating the ideas I have come across into my art and into my life.  My first encounter with any metaphysical ideas began with a book written by a family member, called “I am Esther”.  This is a book written by my great grandmother, post-death, through a spiritual connection with her best friend, Miriam. After Esther’s passing from this earth realm, Miriam felt a clear urge to contact Esther.  She sat down one day with a pencil and attempted to contact Esther, and to her astonishment was answered.  Miriam and Esther communicated through daily transcriptions, for a period of time, and talked about life in the next realm and lessons we need to learn before we make this transition.  The mark making that can be seen in my work emulates the automatic writing found in “I am Esther”. 

Within a short time after studying this book, I was introduced to ideas of channeling.  My mother found a group of very progressive individuals that gather for channeling sessions from Archangel Gabriel.  This, much like the transcriptions from Esther, talk about what is presently taking place on earth and evolutions of thought we must obtain in order to become more enlightened beings.  Archangel Gabriel also gives explanations for the current state of the earth and it’s inhabitants.  There are predictions of large times of transitions that are said to occur within the next years and to cease in the year 2012, a significant year on the Mayan Calendar.  These culminations of ideas are translated through me, in an instinctively organic mode to create abstract art.
