SCOTT GARCIAHi, I'm Scott Patricio Garcia an Artist, Born in 1966, Raised on a farm in Belen, on Gabaldon Road, if you drive there it is the house with a kaboose. A 10 acre farm, my first friends were a pig named oinky, a german sheperd named Jethro, a Dauchtusnd named Schnizzel and a horse named 'Lil Red. My youth was spent all around the banks of the Rio Grande in Los Lunas, Tome and Los Chavez. Like a modern day Hispanic Tom Sawyer. My father Armillio Garcia is from Ceyboyetta, Mom Juliette Gallegos was from Los Lunas. Currently I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I'm in the Contemporary Hispanic Market in Santa Fe, I juried in as a 5 year artist in 2007, I now show at Legends Santa Fe on the Plaza, Masks Y Mas (soon), and De Colores Galleria in Old Town Albuquerque, but best of all I'm Self Trained, Award-Winning Santero, and Wood Carver, but I consider myself an artist in general. I did happen to Graduate from UNM in 1996 with an Architectural Degree, surprising my family I graduated with Honors. I began carving in 1996 and no matter what cool desk job Drafting and Engineering would bring, I couldn't stop thinking about art, and being lucky to have married a wife that believes in dreams and me, and allows me to be an artist. The struggle is in allowing myself to be an artist.... I've been carving seriously and competing since 2003. I did win first place at the age of 10 for an oil painting of Las Trampas Church. ?I have been married for 20years now and have two awesome boys, both good artists in thier own right, hopefully I can infect them with the artist bug. But my 20yr old son is putting his sights on Police Academy. My Hero! I think that the love, freedom and blessing of this family of mine is what allows me to create with abandon and come up with some of my ideas. Please visit my personal web site.
